Fairy Tales: Prologue

"We're losing her!" the attending nurse exclaimed as the EKG monitor flat lined.

"Clear!" the doctor shouted while grasping the defibrillator. As soon as the staff had stepped away from Gabrielle, he placed the defibrillator pads on Gabrielle's chest and attempted to restart the girl's heart.

As soon as he pulled away, two other staff members closed in and attempted CPR with no luck. Three more times of switching between the defibrillator and CPR was attempted before the doctor called it quits.

"I call the time of death at..." He paused to look up at the wall mounted clock. "...twelve thirty-four PM."

The death of Gabrielle Malak took it's toll on the attending physicians. Dr. Fitz, the head surgeon, sent up a silent prayer as he prepared himself to break the news to the patient's parents, Aaron and Gracie Malak.

"What's going on?" came the faint, yet slightly echoed voice of Gabrielle as she slowly opened her eyes. After allowing a few moments for her eyes to adjust, she looked around, at almost complete nothingness. She rubbed her eyes and looked around again. Nothing but white nothingness met her gaze. "Where...am I?"

Although she was somewhat comforted by the warming light from all around, she was still quite alone, and upon looking down at her body, she realized that she was also quite nude. She wanted to cry out to her parents for solace, but suddenly a being that was to handsome to be female, yet too beautiful to be male wearing loose hanging robes appeared before her.

"Who are you?" Gabrielle barely managed to squeak out just above a whisper.

The being didn't say a single word yet seemed to be able to communicate volumes when it progressed towards her. She wanted to run away, scream her head off, anything, yet she remained motionless as the being came closer. Yet, something about the being soothed her fears as it outstretched a hand towards her. As soon as she grabbed its hand, her body rapidly age progressed to what appeared to be that of a twenty-four year old young woman. As soon as the transformation took place the being that stood before her was replaced with a much older, ethereal looking male.

"You're a special girl, Gabrielle Malak. I have an important mission for you. I just wish I didn't have to call you to me at such a young age." he said wistfully before nodding. "Yes, I'm sure you have many questions, and I'm going to answer them in due time. As for your first question, to many, I'm simply called the Lord. Others call me Father."

"Then you're..." Gabrielle started off.

He nodded before saying, "Yes, I am."

"Does that mean that I'm...dead?" Gabrielle asked.

"Yes, it does, my dear girl. You died on the operating table. The operation was risky, your parents knew that, but they wanted to try to extend your life. Unfortunately, something has come up as I knew it would and I called you to me to go through with this mission. You see, many eons ago, I knew that a chain of events would happen, and so I had guided and formed your lifeline, your very Starseed to intercept it."

"What do you mean?" Gabrielle wasn't sure what was going on and was becoming increasingly confused.

"Upon your creation, I made it so that you would become my chosen champion Angel, the Heavenly soldier, Sailor Savior. When I send you back to Earth, your mission would be twofold. First to protect the people from falling any further from Grace which is tied into the second and most important of the two, which is to defeat Mephistopheles."

"Who's that?" Gabrielle asked.

"Some believe that Mephistopheles is just another name for Lucifer, but although the two are connected, Lucifer is still one of my own, though his mission is to try to see if humanity can be persuaded to separate themselves from me. Mephistopheles, however, is a manifestation that has gone horribly wrong."

"I'm not a fighter, how am I suppose to defeat him?"

"My dear child. There are many different forms of defeat than simply losing a physical fight. You will figure that out in time. I have a lot of faith in you. All of your needs will be taken care of while you're on Earth. I have sent for a companion to guide you on your way and provide you with an item that would be required during your mission." He said before fading from view.

Within a blink of an eye, Gabrielle found herself fully dressed and getting off of a bus in a remote region of a city. After watching the bus pull away, Gabrielle sat down at the bench near the bus stop and looked up towards the sky where she saw a lone dove flying amongst a flock of pigeons. She didn't think much of it because she remembered hearing that doves and pigeons were closely related. Suddenly that dove separated from the pigeons and flew towards Gabrielle. It made as if it were to land on the now empty street, but it miscalculated and crash landed right at Gabrielle's feet. For several moments, Gabrielle just sat there, expecting the dove to quickly take flight. However the dove flailed about as it attempted to right itself. It was then that Gabrielle noticed that the dove's legs were entangled with ribbon that had some sort of cross dangling from it.

"You poor thing. Easy there. Let me help you." Gabrielle said as she carefully reached down, picked up the dove and untangled the item from the dove's legs. Gabrielle let the dove sit there in her lap a few moments as she gently stroked its wings before trying again to let the dove fly off. "There you go. All set. Hmm? Why aren't you going? You must have crash landed harder than I thought."

'Thank you for caring so much about me, but I'm fine. I'm afraid I can't leave you. You see, I was sent here to guide you.' a voice ran through Gabrielle's head.

Gabrielle sat ramrod straight and looked around. Upon not finding anyone but the dove and herself, she called out, "Who's there?"

'I am. Down here. The little feathered friend on your lap.' the voice replied.

"Huh?" Gabrielle was taken aback as she looked down at the dove.

'My name is Snowbelle and I was sent to be your guide and companion from the Boss. The item you removed from my legs is called the Soul Staff. You will need it to become Sailor Savior and after you morph, it transforms into a special item that will come in handy.'

Gabrielle blinked a few times while taking in all that Snowbelle said before saying, "How is it that I can understand what you're saying, but you're not verbally communicating?"

Snowbelle flapped his wings and clumsily took off and landed on her shoulder so that he'd be eye level with her.

'I am talking to you via ESP. A bit disconcerting I wager, but there are upsides to it. I have a feeling that it's going to be an interesting adventure that we'll have together.' Snowbelle said with a mental grin.
